Learn who we are and why we care.
Pet Orthopedics WA was created to give families access to high-quality, focused surgical care without unnecessary delays or confusion. We make the process clear, affordable, and built around your pet’s comfort.
A practice shaped by purpose and pets.
From his Montana ranch roots to years in general medicine, Dr. Chad Pilgeram’s path has always centered around caring for animals and helping them heal. As the founder of Pet Orthopedics, that mission lives on. We focus solely on orthopedic care—delivering high-quality surgery, personal guidance, and thoughtful follow-up that ensures your pet’s healing is as steady as it is supported.
Our promise to pet families.
Real Expertise

We focus only on orthopedic surgery—cruciate knee tears, luxating patellas, fractures, and more—so your pet gets care from a team that’s done it thousands of times before.
Personalized Experience
You’ll speak with real people, not a call center. Our team follows your pet’s case from start to finish so nothing gets lost and every detail stays in focus.
Straightforward Process
There are no hoops to jump through—just a direct, respectful approach to surgery, recovery, and communication. You’ll know exactly what comes next.
Built for better orthopedic outcomes.
We built Pet Orthopedics WA because we saw a gap between primary care and specialty hospitals—one that left pets waiting and families overwhelmed.
We’re here to close that gap with clear options, up-front pricing, and dedicated follow-up care. Our model keeps things personal — so you get real communication, compassionate support, and surgery that fits your pet’s needs, not a one-size-fits-all system.
My dog Lexi had knee surgery 8 weeks ago and she is back to her normal rambunctious self!!! Thank you!! Pet Orthopedics!!! Job well done!!!
A great team at Pet Orthopedics! They recently helped our German Shepherd get back on his feet from a cruciate ligament tear. They were responsive and caring from pre-op assessment through post-op recovery. We're grateful to have this professional team nearby!
We were recommend after my elder half pug/half Chihuahua Kevin broke his leg, they recommended surgery, they explained everything making me feel comfortable. From the start they made me feel like family the recovery went smoothly. They made sure everything was very well taken care of. I would recommend to everyone that needs an orthopedic surgeon. Their are the best.
Very caring knowledgeable staff and Doctor. Very professional with easy access if any questions before and after surgery as well as recovery period. Thank you for taking such good care of our Shelby.
Dr. Alley performed the TTA surgery on our 9 year old chocolate lab, Nala. We (and Nala) could not be more pleased with the outcome. Two months post-op, she seems totally restored to her old athletic self. Amazing results!
I've had nothing but wonderful experiences here with both Dr. Pilgeram and Dr. Alley, and the techs! From the very beginning when I was panicking about what to do about my dog's luxating patella, they were helpful and extremely quick about getting him in for a consultation and then surgery. They took so much time explaining everything to me, and reassuring me when I was being a neurotic mess about my boy. He ended up having both patellas done (on separate occasions) and both times the process was extremely smooth and my dog is doing great! The post-op instructions are extremely clear and thorough and Tattle is doing better than ever, and I expect he'll be back to all of his regular activities soon. It's so scary having to go through anything like this with your dog, but if you have to, I highly recommend Pet Orthopedics. Tattle and I are so grateful to get back to what he loves (going fast).
Pet orthopedics did an AMAZING job on my dog Mercy. Mercy had both of her ACLS torn, so far we have only done her left side. Upon the surgery they found a torn meniscus as well as the ACL and they fixed it with no extra cost! Quoted a reasonable package price that included the price of the surgery, meds (not refills), two follow up appointments and her final xray. They were great at explaining the whole process from beginning to end. I had no previous knowledge on how you go about fixing an ACL tear and was worried about the entire process. They assured me and helped me understand the process better. By week 5 post op mercy was already ahead of schedule and by week 8 post op everything was looking great on her final Xray and she can now go back to normal activities! Will definitely be recommending Pet Orthopedics to everyone I know and will definitely be coming back for any future surgeries!
My dog Roxy had patella surgery and it was the best decision we made for her to have it. She had stopped moving a few months prior; it was obvious she was in pain. She is a small dog, so we were fortunate Dr. Ally and Dr Pilgeram took on her case. The surgery was a success and within a couple of days she was back up and moving, putting weight on her leg with ease. It has been two weeks, and you would have never have known she had surgery, she is doing great!
My 7 year old lab Chief had a really bad limp. After trying rest and anti inflammatory meds to no avail, my normal vet referred me to Pet Orthopedics. They diagnosed and preformed surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus. The staff and Dr. were all kind and patient. Scheduling and follow up visits were a breeze. After 8 weeks Chief is no longer limping and raring to go on adventures. Can’t thank the staff at Pet Orthopedics enough!
My cockapoo tore her meniscus and ACL. Dr. Alley was extremely reassuring about my dog’s surgery, as well as very detailed in what would occur during surgery and post- surgery. She was so knowledgeable, yet kind and understanding. I would highly recommend her . She is wonderful!
Great care, quick recovery even at 12 years old, always reachable and prompt. Super nice and very knowledgeable. Over all amazing service!
Dr. Alley and the crew were wonderful with Zeus. Their instructions, and responses when I had questions after surgery, were quick and thorough. Zeus is making a splendid recovery.
Wonderful experience during a stressful time. Dr. Alley did a perfect job on the CCL/meniscus surgery for our 10 year old border collie. He healed within her estimated time frame with no issues. PO was able to schedule the surgery quickly and the bill had no surprises and was a lot less than other options. We have a very happy dog again :)
We received top notch care from Pet Orthopedics. The communication was great and you can really feel how much they love what they do and care for your fur baby. My dog is 100% recovered 8 weeks post surgery. I highly recommend them!
I was very happy with my experience here. They did the surgery less than a week after calling and were extremely good on the follow ups. Now my pup is up and running around on all four legs again!
I highly recommend Pet Orthopedic and Horse Heaven Hills Pet Urgent Care. From start to finish, everyone was kind, compassionate, and attentive to both us and our dog, Kipp. Kipp underwent TPLO surgery and received excellent care throughout her recovery. At her recent follow-up, we received the wonderful news that she had healed beautifully and was cleared to return to normal activities. The entire team made a stressful situation so much easier, and we are incredibly grateful for their expertise and genuine care. I would absolutely trust them again in the future—although I hope we never need to!
They were amazing with my pup throughout the entire ACL recovery! I recommend them to anyone looking to get their pup ACL surgery!
They took excellent care of our girl Penelope. Her surgery went great and she has healed perfectly. We just had her last xray and vet visit and they said she has healed incredibly well. She is a bigger breed and weighs 125 lbs. They handled her perfectly. We are so happy with the results and the service we received. Thank you so much taking care of our girl❤️
We absolutely love Willow's surgeon and staff. They walked us through the whole process of what would happen from the begining to the end of both of her procedures. We were impressed at how well they stayed in contact with us through it all. We were able to contact them at anytime with any questions we may had. We would 100% recommend them to anyone who has an animal that needs ortho surgery.
We are incredibly grateful for the quality of care we received to a very important member of our family. The procedure as well as the follow-up was amazing. The smooth recovery is thanks to the the great care. We are grateful.
Incredible knowledge and results for my 215 lb English Mastiff Winston
They did an amazing job with Kassie and were extremely thorough snd professional! After surgery, we started physical therapy through Dr Menk’s and have seen great results. Pictures and videos attached.
Can’t thank you guys enough I have my dog back. It was a long eight weeks, but it was so worth it. She’s back to swimming and playing and being herself.
This was the best experience I could have asked for in the situation. We were able to schedule our appointment within a week of diagnosis, this was amazing as most places were 5 weeks out plus. All my questions were answered even after hours. Expectations for recovery were clear and easy to follow. My Miss Penny is back to playing, running and being her happy little self.
My Chocolate Lab Molly injured her leg pretty bad and needed a plate put in it. Dr Alley did a Great job and Molly had a full recovery. Dr Alley talked to me and treated Molly as if she was hers. I highly recommend Dr Alley if your pet needs Orthopedic surgery of any kind!
Meet the team behind the care.

Surgeon
Dr Chad Pilgeram grew up in Plains, Montana. Growing up on a farm and cattle ranch in western Montana, he has always enjoyed being active outdoors and being around animals. This early path shines through in just about everything he pursues. After undergraduate studies at Montana State University, he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1991 from the Oregon State University/Washington State University collaborative program.
After graduating from veterinary school, he and his wife, Denise (also a veterinarian), settled in the rural Yakima Valley. Being in a busy agricultural area, surgical skills were necessary to help dogs and cats recover from all categories of injuries. This solidified his interest in surgery and eventually led to a narrower career progression, now limited to helping dogs and cats recover from a wide range of treatments for traumatic and athletic orthopedic injuries. He has been driven by his love of seeing animals recover from injuries and their incredible ability to heal.
He now resides in north Spokane County. His grown daughters, Natalie and Rachel, are no longer living at home, but he and his wife of 35 years will continue to be surrounded by pets and animals. When not in the surgery room, he can often be found engaged in activities involving family and friends, encouraging them to participate in some energetic outdoor gatherings. He enjoys gardening, hiking, backpacking, adventure traveling, and is a lifelong runner.
